He will inform you about the specifics of the operation including the technique, risk,, lessons and long-term expectations. I would suggest starting with the American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgery to obtain a list of well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons.
Then, I would suggest you visit a few surgeons whose practices concentrate on aesthetic surgery. If you are referring to your family doctor, you can tell them the issues you are having with your breasts (weight, bra strap pain, shoulder pain, etc.) and ask if they know a plastic surgeon who they would recommend.  If you are talking about the plastic surgeon, you can check with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).  They can give you a list of the board certified plastic surgeons in your area who perform breast reduction surgery.  Your surgeon will examine you and review the procedure with you.  ask to see before and after photos of patients who have had a breast reduction.  Be certain to follow their instructions with regard to  pre and post op care.  Most breast reduction patients tend to be very pleased with the results.   Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
