I got a BBL/Lipo 360 on September 19. Everything went fine with my recovery (so i thought) up until two weeks ago where I’ve developed two painful swollen lumps right under the incision site on my left buttock. The lumps are sensitive to touch , tender , painful , and discolored. Have a developed an infection months after surgery ?

Answer: Is this an infection? I encourage you to visit with your surgeon for an evaluation. The symptoms you describe certainly could indicate an infection is present. Your surgeon will guide you with how to proceed after an examination.

Answer: Painful Swelling Months after BBL. Have i developed an infection? Page 2 If you're experiencing painful swelling months after a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure, it's important to consult a medical professional, preferably your surgeon or a healthcare provider, as they can provide accurate advice based on your specific situation. Painful swelling after a BBL could potentially be due to various reasons, including: 1.) Infection: Infections can lead to localized swelling, redness, warmth, and pain. If you suspect an infection, it's important to seek medical attention promptly. 2.) Inflammatory Response: Surgery, including BBL, can trigger an inflammatory response in the body, which might result in swelling and discomfort. However, excessive or prolonged swelling should still be evaluated by a medical professional. 3.) Fluid Accumulation (Seroma or Hematoma): Fluid buildup in the surgical area can lead to swelling and discomfort. Seromas are pockets of clear fluid, while hematomas are collections of blood. Both can occur after surgery. 4.) Scarring: Scar tissue formation can sometimes cause discomfort and swelling. It's important to monitor the healing process and discuss any concerns with your surgeon. 5.) Allergic Reaction: If you've had any changes in medication or have been exposed to allergens, an allergic reaction might cause swelling and discomfort. 6.) Underlying Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions can lead to swelling, pain, and discomfort. It's important to consider your overall health. 7.) Implant Complications: If you've had any implants placed during the BBL, complications related to the implants could potentially lead to swelling and discomfort. 8.) Fat Survival and Redistribution: In some cases, the transferred fat might not survive uniformly, leading to irregularities and potential swelling. However, this should generally improve over time. 9.) Overactivity: Engaging in strenuous activities too soon after surgery can exacerbate swelling and discomfort. Remember, it's crucial not to jump to conclusions or self-diagnose. If you're experiencing pain, swelling, or any concerning symptoms after a surgical procedure like a BBL, reach out to your surgeon or a medical professional. They can provide proper evaluation, diagnosis, and guidance on the appropriate steps to take. If you are unable to reach your surgeon, consider seeking medical attention at an urgent care facility or an emergency room. We would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail.
