I am a woman with a prominent brow ridge. I know about the surgical options, but I'm not ready to take that plunge just yet. Are fillers ever appropriate to soften the appearance of frontal bossing? If so, which fillers are typically used? I would be happy with a subtle change - I just don't like my appearance in certain lighting.

It's hard to give you a recommendation for your specific case without seeing a photo or evaluating you in person. That being said, hyaluronic acid based fillers like Restylane can be used to improve the appearance of the forehead.

Dear jkline,It is difficult to give you specific advice without seeing a picture or examining you in person.  However, hyaluronic acid fillers are excellent for improving facial shape and contour.  I use these products regularly in area such as the midface for volume, tear troughs below the eyes, and temples to fill in hollowing that occurs with age and weight loss.  These may be ideal products to help soften the contours as you suggested.   HA filers offer immediate results in a safe office procedure.  The product can be easily dissolved if you are unhappy.  They typically last one year or longer depending on the product that is used.   Fat grafting can also be an option for a more permanent result.  I suggest seeing a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.  Best of luck!

Yes , fillers are often used with good results after 1 or 2 treatments sessions using a filler which is tailored to your particular skin charateristics eg restylane refyne or volift .

Just about all of the hyaluronic acid fillers and Radiesse which is a hydroxyapatite filler can be used for smoothing out the forehead and making frontal bossing less apparent. Make sure you find yourself a plastic surgeon who is well-versed with the techniques. Good luck from New York City
