Difference between Sientra's gummy bear high profile vs. moderate plus profile?

Besides projection, most surgeons will choose implant sizes based on breast width. This is actually the most important measurement to consider. While moderate plus implants are wider than high profile implants, this does not necessarily translate to more "side boob" if it fits your profile and your breast well. In general, a higher profile will give you a more full upper pole of the breast, which should translate into more cleavage. An in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon should be able to provide you with a good explanation between the two implants.

Each implant has the same volume. The difference in the implants is how wide they are and how much they project. The 350 cc moderate plus implant is actually 355 cc’s, has a width of 12.1 cm and projects 4.4 cm. Your 350 cc high profile implant has a width of 12 cm and projects 4.8 cm. So the high profile implant is 1 mm wider and projects 4 mm more. This is a very small difference and your appearance and amount of side boob should be virtually the same.

Thank you for your question. The difference between high profile and moderate plus profile is the diameter and projection of an implant. A high profile implant will be more narrow in diameter and projection will be more. Where a moderate profile is wider in diameter and flatter in profile. I would suggest speaking with your Surgeon in detail to discuss the best option. Also you can ask to see if they offer 3D imaging this allows them to show you your breast in different profiles. The high profile implants project more like you mentioned. This results in a bit more fullness at the superior portion of the breast. The side boob profile ends up being very similar, especially in this size range but maybe a bit more side boob with the moderate plus. I will place either based on the patient's measurements and specific goals discussed at the consultation.

Hello! Great question- implant sizing is a confusing topic for many patients. I determine the best size of implants for my patients by choosing the correct width to fit their frame. This helps the implant look as natural as possible. Then, after determining width (12.4 cm it sounds like for your case), then I use that width to determine different volumes (cc's) in each profile. Typically, I will offer at least 2 profiles if the patient is unsure on what look they desire after surgery. For your example, Sientra's silicone, smooth round moderate plus projection implant that fits you closest (if your true diameter is 12.4cm) is a 385 cc implant with a width of 12.5 cm and projection of 4.5 cm. The high projection in the same type of implant would be a 415 cc implant with a width of 12.5 cm and projection of 5.0 cm. If your surgeon is offering 350 cc implant in both projections (please clarify this with your surgeon's office), then the implants are both more narrow (12 cm width) and only 4 mm difference in projection. The high profile implant will have a slightly larger appearance, just because it projects more. There is not a large difference between these two implants, however.

breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

Once the proper implant diameter has been specifically determined for you by your surgeon, it does not change and you should not go wider or narrower. It is like fitting shoes to your feet, regardless of the shoe style, it better fit the length of the foot or it doesn't work for you. So, you can't use both a 350 cc implant in HP and Mod+ because these do not have the same diameter. So one of them isn't the correct diameter for you. Generally, if the Mod+ fits, the same diameter in a HP will be 75-100 cc larger.
