I finally got scheduled for my breast implant removal. I've had the implants 10 years, saline and under the muscle. My question is: my removal is April 23 and my brother is graduating medical school May 2. I don't want to change the date of removal because it would be awhile before they could reschedule. I am suppose to fly from VA to FL April 30 or May 1st. Would it be ok to travel that soon?

Answer: Travel after Breast implant surgery If a simple explantation is performed, with no breast lift, limited capsule work, it may be OK to travel in one week. I would ask your doctor. I have a lot of patients that fly in for surgery, and they stay one week locally. It is important that any drains or sutures are managed by your plastic surgeon before you leave if possible, and that you have the clearance to travel. Frequent ambulation while traveling is important while avoiding long periods of immobilization to decrease risks for a blood clot in your leg. You would also have to protect your chest, no heavy lifting etx. It is difficult to provide any patient with a guarantee on when it is safe to travel so you have to be flexible and OK with a possible change in plans if there are any unforeseen issues that come up or delays in your recovery.
