I am getting married in 3 months and considering vaser lipo. I was hoping to get it done in the next 2-4 weeks, but have become hesitant to schedule because I do plan on getting pregnant in 2020. Should I go ahead with the lipo or is it best to wait until after I'm done having children? I would really like to get rid of a few small areas of stubborn fat before my wedding.

The nice aspect of having percutaneous Liposuction is it will definitely improve your appearance either before or after children. If you're wanting to do it in time for your wedding, you can definitely do it before you decide to get pregnant, or if you would rather to wait after, you can also do that.

Completely up to you. Some people are simply susceptible to isolated pockets of fat that won’t go away despite diet and exercise improvements. Stubborn fat like this is unlikely to change, regardless of whether you get pregnant or not.There are women who have become pregnant after liposuction who claim that the procedure actually helped them avoid gaining fat or as much fat as they may have seen in a previous pregnancy.

The decision is up to you. I’m sure you will have no difficulty finding a plastic surgeon happy to do liposuction before or after children, before or after your wedding.Probably the most important variable is finding the right plastic surgeon. Do you want to minimize the chance of having a poor outcome from your liposuction causing the opposite of what you’re trying to achieve. It takes three months to get final results after liposuction the results are close Two final at about six weeks. If you find a really talented plastic surgeon who has years of experience and can come deliver Consistent high quality results then getting liposuction before your wedding may be a good idea. If however your plastic surgeon is average then the chance of having issues with the outcome may be real as is the need for revision work. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate at the moment. When in doubt I suggest putting on the brakes and keeping things simple. I would start by having multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who have extensive experience and years of practice doing this procedure. All plastic surgeons are trained and can’t do liposuction but the results vary tremendously. My advice is to be cautious and very selective in choosing the best provider.This is the single most important variable and the one that should be taken seriously.how to find the best provider is a different story.Look for someone who has a minimum of five years of experience but preferably more, has consistent high-quality reviews on all the various Dr. review websites which include rate MD, vitals, health grades, yelp and real self.  don’t look for providers who have the most number of reviews but who have consistently distributed reviews on all the different websites without consistent negative remarks. look for providers who can show you 50 or more before and after pictures of high-quality liposuction work.Look for providers or excited about doing liposuction and have a proven track record With this procedure.My practice is devoted exclusively to liposuction and fat transfer. From my personal experience my results improved greatly from doing the procedure over and over. To date I performed over 7000 liposuction procedures and my results continue to improve as I mature in my career.Pregnancies do not change women’s fat distribution. They can cause skin laxity and muscle separation as well as weight fluctuations. Considering you’re planning on having children in the near future it might make sense to wait until after that and see the type of changes this may have on your body. The textbook treatment for pregnancy related changes is generally a full tummy tuck. At tummy tuck specifically treats skin laxity and muscle separation from previous pregnancies.  because of this women who have not had previous pregnancies tend to be better candidates for liposuction.Still, it doesn’t quite make sense to have cosmetic surgery just before going through something that’s going to change your abdomen like pregnancies.The decision is yours not ours.Start by having in person consultations.if you’re not sure then wait and have more consultations with other providers if needed.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
