How do patients explain the severity of the pain? Is it like menstral cramps or worse? I just do not want to be in this pain level for months together.
Answer: I am getting Vaser liposuction and I am very concerned about the pain and soreness Thank you for your question. This should've been discussed during your consultation and/or preop visit. If your surgeon does just fat reduction liposuction vs sculpting or revealing liposuction the postop pain/discomfort is different. Not everyone who owns a VASER knows how to use it to its maximum benefit. I routinely use the VASER Hi Def Lipo technique in my body sculpting patients and they are informed in detail what they can expect postoperatively. I use Gabapentin postop with pain medications. The pain is not like menstrual cramps, there are no cramps. There's a lot of tightness and soreness feeling, with burning sensations, shooting pains (only a few seconds at a time), tingling sensation. The Gabapentin help alleviate these symptoms. Initial pain subsides in 7-10 days and swelling begins to resolve in 2-3 weeks. These symptoms are related to the more aggressive sculpting techniques.discuss your concerns with your surgeon prior to your surgery. Good luck.

Answer: Pain and soreness with Vaser lipo I have been doing Vaser for 12 years and find that the pain experienced is minimal and tolerable for 98% of my patients. It also depends on how many areas are done at once and how aggressive your provider has to be on any one area. See someone with a track record using Vaser and get a good evaluation. Hope this helps. Answer: High definition VASER liposuction There should be mild to no pain. A board certified plastic surgeon will ensure there are no post-op complications. Furthermore, post-op care should be thorough and address any concerns the patient is expressing. High definition VASER liposuction is less invasive than traditional techniques, which means recovery is quicker and less rigorous. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Answer: Pain after liposuction I’m surprised your provider didn’t talk to you about the recovery from liposuction during your consultation.patients describe the recovery from liposuction as feeling similar having over exercised when being out of shape. like if someone asked you to run the bay to breakers except you hadn’t gone running for 12 months. It’s pretty uncomfortable for a couple of days but not bad enough that ibuprofen can’t handle it. You definitely need a few days to heal and do nothing but after that it gets better every day.By three weeks most people can do unlimited physical activity.if your provider is very aggressive then you may be sore for longer. The only time I have seen peoplehave issues with pain is if they were told or believed they wouldn’t feel anything afterwards. I’ve never experienced menstrual cramps but I don’t think they feel the same as recovering from liposuction.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
