Question

I have non-varicose but visible blue veins on breasts and chest at 29 years old. I have had a breast aug in the past and I know that that might be the cause of the veins being visible on my actual breasts— but what is going on with the upper chest/chest bone area?. These veins are not painful, not varicose or anything. I want to get rid of them all. I got breast implants to feel more sexy and feminine— not to look like a map/globe(s) with blue line running all over the place. Please help!

It’s important to distinguish between varicose veins and spider veins when choosing between laser therapy, sclerotherapy, and vein surgery. Thank you for your question. Based on your photo I recommend Sclerotherapy treatment which involves an injection of a chemical that will cause your vein to contract and become scarred internally. The vein will disappear from your body after some time. Generally, it takes about 8-10 weeks for the vein to disappear. Please make sure you seek treatment from a board-certified dermatologist.

These are very common after breast augmentation. They usually go down over the course of the year. If they persist for more than a year they’re likely to stay. We treat these in our office with foam sclerotherapy. One or two treatments are typically sufficient. Make sure you see someone who treats this area regularly.

Those veins are called reticular veins. They are quite common after breast implants. They can be treated with sclerotherapy. We have good experience with those veins.

The posted picture shows blue reticular veins which are very common and these can extend to the upper chest area.  Although there is always the possibility of an underlying problem leading to the vein formation, most likely the reasons for the vein formation are genetics and the breast implants.  Sclerotherapy should work well for you to treat these veins.  See a vein specialist.
