Hi there. I have a single prominent vein down my shin - super ugly and especially noticeable as I’m pale skinned. I’ve tried covering with fake tan but it’s still super noticeable. What treatment could I have to remove please?
Answer: Consider Ambulatory phlebectomy you can actually have that segment of the vein completely removed through a few minuscule poke holes in the skin. This would guarantee the vein wouldn't come back, and it is a fairly simple procedure done in the office.

Answer: Prominent shin vein This is a challenging area to treat in the leg since there is very little tissue underneath the skin between the skin and the anterior tibial bone service also known as the shin. The options are to proceed with a formal venous insufficiency ultrasound evaluation to see if there’s a deeper vein feeding this prominent blue vein. If you have other signs or symptoms of venous insufficiency this would be my recommendation. If the cosmetic appearance of the blue Vein is your primary concern, I would proceed directly to injection Sclerotherapy which is A very effective course of treatment. Asclera is the most widely used sclerosant and when injected will cause the vein to clot and scar down over the course of a few weeks. Drainage of the old blood may be required 4-6 weeks later to minimize residual pigmentation.

Answer: Best treatment option Seeing a vein doctor would be the first step to take. It is important that an evaluation is done by a Vein Doctor that is Board Certified, preferably by the American Venous and Lymphatic Board of Medicine. Using ultrasound imaging to scan, the vein doctor is able to recommend best treatment plan. At our vein institute, specialists always evaluate patients for chronic venous insufficiency before any treatment to make sure to not only treat the cosmetic concerns, but also the underlying cause as well.

Answer: Vein Treatment Thank you for your photo. Sclerotherapy might be a good option to treat your veins. Sclerotherapy treatment involves an injection of a chemical that will cause your vein to contract and become scarred internally. The vein will disappear from your body after some time. Generally, it takes about 8-10 weeks for the vein to disappear. For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation from a board-certified dermatologist.

Answer: Foam sclerotherapy This is a very common area to have prominent veins because there is very little subcutaneous fat overlying the shin. I treat this area with a single injection using foam sclerotherapy. The vein collapses and is absorbed by the body over 6-12 weeks. A single visit is usually sufficient to treat it. We do 3-4 a day.
