it's hard to tell the true size of your spider veins, but in general sclerotherapy is the most effective treatment for spider veins on the legs. Sometimes when the veins are extremely small laser becomes a better option. If you have already noticed some improvement with laser treatments you may want to continue with them.
Although laser or veinwave is an option for treating spider veins on the legs, the gold standard to treat these veins is sclerotherapy.
Thank you for your question. Sclerotherapy might be a good option to treat your veins. Sclerotherapy treatment involves an injection of a chemical that will cause your vein to contract and become scarred internally. The vein will disappear from your body after some time. Generally, it takes about 8-10 weeks for the vein to disappear. For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation from a board-certified dermatologist.
There are options for vein removal or treatment and the best are through vein specialist that is board certified in vein disease. It is important to first find out if an underlying venous insufficiency is causing the appearance of your veins. If this is the case, you might be also presenting other signs and symptoms like leg swelling, leg pain, leg cramps, leg heaviness, burning sensation, itching of the skin, or other changes. If underlying system is presenting venous reflux. Vein specialist can best treat the underlying process as well as the existent veins that bother you. The goal is not only to treat, but to prevent progressive symptoms and future complications. All the best,
My first question is how long ago was the laser treatment? Based on what I see on the picture it is quite possible that those veins are now closed and your body is in the process of removing them. You MUST be patient. Could take 3-4 months before they completely resolve.
I usually prefer sclerotherapy as my first line of therapy, but for very tiny veins like those pictured, vein wave or microneedle RF is often my go to method. Lasers can also work well. Please be aware that any method can require multiple treatments, and it does not stop the formation of new ones.Good luck to you,Dr. Powell
It’s important to distinguish between varicose veins and spider veins when choosing between laser therapy, sclerotherapy, and vein surgery. With two board certified vein specialists, our center uses a combination of visual examination, functional flow measurements, ultrasound, t...
The posted pictures show staining post sclerotherapy and, hopefully, most of this will improve over time. Topical Dermaka cream may help. I would also recommend repeating the ultrasound looking for reflux since, if present, this could lead to new vein formation and the poor response to s...
Hello, The sclerotherapy solution used was probably not strong enough, and laser has no role in this kind of veins. It is a dangerous area that requires a vascular physician trained for this technique. A couple of sessions may be necessary if the Dr uses a correct protocol. A vein avulsion...
