How many implants do you order for surgery?

Many surgeons have back up supply of implants in case one gets broken when trying to put them in. It’s a fair question to ask your particular surgeon

Hi there! Thanks for your question. Most surgeons will have multiple options available during your case. For example, I have anywhere from 4-6 pairs of implants varying in shape and CC size for each patient. I reccomend a consultation with your surgeon to discuss their plans.

Its incredibly rare that implant will get damaged or contaminated. But many surgeon do practice keep an additional set of implants on the day of surgery. Anyway dont worry for miniscule chance of adversities.
If you are very much concerned, discuss the same with your board certified plastic surgeon.

most plastic surgeons have a stock of different implants in case they need to use more implants than planned. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Thanks for your question! Implants come individually packaged. I order 3 so that I do have an extra if it is needed for any reason. However, other surgeons may do things differently. Good luck with your upcoming surgery!

Thank you for your question. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to breast revision surgery. I stock over 100 implants in my surgical center. Many busy plastic surgeons will have a consignment of implants in their office or surgical center. This is very common. If a surgeon is going to a surgical center and only has a few implants, I would go to another surgeon. Best wishes to you.

Each surgeon has her/his own protocol for surgery. Many surgeons have multiple implants available for a variety of situations. In order for you to feel comfortable and confident as you prepare for surgery it is best to ask this question of your surgeon.

Every surgeon orders implants based on his/her experience. I do not order additional gel implants unless I am concerned about size in uneven breasts. I do order an additional saline implant in case one is defective, very rare, or is damaged by me, very uncommon.

It is very common for surgeons to have extra implants available during breast implant cases. Each case is different and the amount of work that needs to be done may determine how many implants are ordered. For example, less implants are generally ordered for a primary augmentation, but more may be ordered when a capsulectomy is to be done with or without a lift, etc.

I always order backup implants. I've fortunately never had to use them, but it would be a real problem if they weren't available if needed. Some surgeons order backup implants for every patient, others keep a stock in their clinic just in case.
