is there less swelling after rhinoplasty if the doctor didn't break the nasal bones?

Every patient is different and swelling can occur from a tip procedure or a nasal bone procedure.  The amount of bruising and swelling is typically more with bone treatment, but it is not always the case.  I recommend you following the instructions from your surgeon and I wish you the best of luck. 

Typically, one can expect less swelling from "shaving down" the nasal bones as compared to  "breaking the nasal bones" (osteotomies).  You should still expect tip swelling from the open approach.  Good luck

Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. Part of that process is waiting for swelling to go down. Some surgeries may be more involved than others. In general, with more work on the nose, there will be more swelling. Some patients are lucky and have very little. Some patients have much more. Osteotomies, controlled cuts in the bone, may result in more bruising under the eyes. The most important thing is to follow your surgeon's instructions and keep your follow-up appointments, so she/he can keep you on track for a safe and happy result. Safety comes first.
