How many weeks after rhinoplasty should I continue icing my nose?

Question

I had a closed rhinoplasty on 12/9. My doctor suggested I ice my face DAILY for the first 6 months to reduce swelling and inflammation. Is this commonly accepted and/or is there anything else I can do? Many thanks

Hello,There is no data to suggest that icing has any effect after a few days after surgery. Best of luck!

You should clarify this recommendation with your physician. Icing your face daily for 6 months to help with swelling seems rather unusual and not likely to offer any significant benefits. Sometimes short term steroid therapy can help with swelling or in some cases steroid injections. Icing after 48 hours is not something we recommend.
