Can other fillers be used on top of Bellafill? (Photo)

I would avoid any more bellafill into the lips for risk of nodules long term but adding other fillers on top shouldn't make much of a difference if you have a normal stable good result from your first treatment.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The lips and periorbital skin are the two areas I do not treat with Bellafill.  I would not recommend additional product in your lips for at least 6 months as you need to see what happens with the collagen building capacity of Bellafill.  Sadly, it often causes lumps and bumps in areas where there is muscle motion.  In other stable areas on the face it is a wonderful long term collagen builder. 

This is the one region I simply will not place Bellafill.   It is an extraordinary product that can be used in other areas of the face for a lasting, natural correction. 

Bellafill in the lips is not recommended. Lumps are very possible and I've heard of infections too. Adding Juvederm will likely increase the rate of complications and is not recommended.

While very few physicians will use Bellafill in the lips, I
have routinely used it here and it excels as a lip filler. It is soft, pliable and rarely causes any
problems. If lumps do develop they are
easily treated with an injection of a steroid called Kenalog 10. You should be aware that the product label
does specifically say that Bellafill is not for lip injection and that use in
this area is very definitely off label. You
can add any of the other fillers like Juvederm or Restylane if you want to go
bigger but remember, these products will eventually need to be replaced.
