Can I get Botox or fillers done after I tattoo freckles on my face?

Question

If I have tattooed freckles on my face particularly around the eyes and cheek area, would I be able to get fillers and have it look good? Or would the freckles distort and increase in size?

Botox is a neurmodulator that only affects muscles. It is used to relax the dynamic muscles that fold the skin into expressions and, over time, create wrinkles. It is placed under the surface of the skin and will not affect any cosmetic tattoos you have. As for the cosmetic tattoos being affected, displaced or stretched by a dermal filler such as Belotero, Juvederm, Sculptra or Restylane around your eyes and cheeks, that is highly unlikely. Unless you are planning to create a very dramatic volume change, your skin (and therefore tattooed freckles) will not stretch significantly – if at all. The freckles should be fine. Please consult in person with a board-certified dermatologist who is an expert in sculpting the face with Botox and fillers to get a better idea of what kinds of changes you should expect to see.

Generally speaking, I believe you can safely proceed with Botox injections after tattoos. Your injector may have to be sure they're not injecting through the tattoos, but around them. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)

The answer is yes you can have botox  and filler.  There is no contraindication to filler/botox for faces that have had tattoos in the past.  As for your question about the size of the freckle increasing in size is unlikely.

Thank you for your questions. You would be advised to ask the MD or RN who is going to be doing your injections. That being said, I see no contraindication to having Botox or fillers to an area of tattooing although I suppose there is a possibility that the fillers could displace the position of the tattoo slightly but if you stay with HA fillers, this would only be temporary if you did not like it, or could be dissolved immediately if you want.Hope this helps!

Neither dermal fillers nor Botox should distort freckles – whether they are natural or tattooed. The only caveat is that you should wait until your tattoo is completely healed before doing any more procedures to your face. That means at least a month, though I would recommend waiting two months. A board-certified dermatologist will be able to evaluate your skin and tattoos and help determine the right time to add in Botox and dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Sculptra, Voluma, Volbella, Restylane, Radiesse and Belotero.

The hyaluronic-acid based fillers that are used to restore volume around the cheeks and eyes, such as Juvederm, Volbella, and Restylane, will not affect your freckles nor distort them. Even when we build up the cheekbones with Sculptra and Voluma, I haven't noticed any distortion of freckles – natural or tattooed. Please see a board-certified dermatologist to have your fillers administered properly.
