Is it safe to use Juvederm while pregnant?

Although Juvederm is made form hyaluronic acid which is natural to the body, theoretically there should notbe any issues with injecting it into someone who is pregnant. Unfortunately there have not be any definitive studies to prove safety in pregnant women. Because of this, the company (Allergan) and our office do not recommend Juvederm injections while pregnant.

Because Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler, made of naturally occurring substance in your own body, it is most likely safe for use on pregnant women. However, there are also no conclusive studies that point one way or another. In these types of cases, it is always best to err on the side of caution and wait to receive Juvederm or any cosmetic injectable treatment until after the child has been born.
