Recessed Jaw and Double Chin. Any suggestions? (photos)

Your entire
lower jaw is deficient. Jaw surgery (sagittal split osteotomy) and a sliding
genioplasty would change the contour but, since nothing would be added to the
mandible, it would still be deficient, but in another way. The jaw surgery
would change how your teeth fit and therefore require more orthodontia. Chin
and jaw implants would be ideal to enlarge your lower jaw in a single surgery
and not require any braces.

 The photographs demonstrate fatty deposits above and below the platysma muscle in the neck, and a weak chin profile. Placement of a Silastic chin implant can give the  added projection to the chin for skeletal support of the soft tissues. Chin implants are manufactured out of Silastic, and come in a variety of sizes and shapes which is best determined at the time of the consultation and examination.  The photographs also demonstrate fatty deposits in the neck which are best removed with a neck lift procedure. In our practice this involves removal of the fatty deposits with liposuction above the platysma muscle and surgical removal of the fatty deposits below the platysma muscle. No skin removal is necessary. A platysma plasty is also required. The combination of both procedures will significantly help with the jaw line. Your need an evaluation in person. I have extensive experience with silastic  chin implants and they do a great job in correcting chin deficiencies. Its a much simpler and less invasive surgery than sliding genioplasty. It can be done under local anesthesia, on an out patient basis,  within 30 minutes.  Its also easily reversible. There are different shapes and sizes of implants, so one can be found to fit  your physical needs. Regarding the fat, I prefer to do an open fat excision through the chin wound. However,, many times I have seen that the implant seems to efface the double chin, decreasing the need for fat removal.
