Able to get gastric sleeve after lap band surgery and open lap band revision surgery due to slippage?

I had the lap band done in 2002, lapiscopocally, lost 90% of my excess weight, then had it slip had a lap band revision 1.5 years later, it was done open due to adhesions. I was too scared at that point and had the fill taken out, I have since regained all my weight. Would I be able to get the band removed and have a gastric sleeve? Would it have to be done open . I have a horrible scar from the band revision. Keloid.

You should be able to have the gastric sleeve laparoscopic.  yes, there will be adhesions or scar tissue.  however, most experienced laparoscopic bariatric surgeons will be able to remove the scars and do the gastric sleeve laparoscopically.  I agree, sometimes the scars can be so dense that the surgeon will need to make an incision.  What i do in these cases is that i make the smallest incision I can to remove the scar tissue.  Then, I close and go back to the laparoscopic technique and finish the sleeve.  This is called laparoscopic assisted.  Find a good and experienced laparoscopic bariatric surgeon, you will be fine.

Scar tissue is something that surgeons are use to dealing with. Chances are a surgeon would be able to remove the scar tissue and do a gastric sleeve.
