I m going to have rihnoplasty in short terms there i m researching as i m typing. I want to keep dorsal hump on my nose rather elavate or Project tip upwards along with defination while my nose front looks little bit meaty when I left tip upwards. The tip of my nose is pointy projecting downwards. Picture Speaks a thousand words. The shape of my nose is "TENSION TIP" wanting more like "DORSAL HUMP". From front view it looks meaty. Is possible trim it slim it for frontal view.
Answer: Is it applicable to keep dorsal hump while elavating (rotating) and defining the tip? Hello 4zeek4,Thanks for your question. It is possible to keep your dorsal hump and just change the tip of your nose.If you truly have a tension tip, you will need tip support at the time of rotation surgery to keep the tip from drooping after surgery.I would recommend that you consult with a rhinoplasty specialist in your area to have a complete exam, have photos taken, and have rhinoplasty simulations to better understand how the procedure you think you want might actually look on you.Good luck,Dr. Shah

Answer: Is it applicable to keep dorsal hump while elavating (rotating) and defining the tip? Improving the nasal tip is a frequent request of patients wanting nasal refinement. It is possible to improve the cosmetic appearance of the tip alone without altering the rest of the nose in some patients. Whether the optimal option in your particular situation would be a tip rhinoplasty alone or a full rhinoplasty would best be determined at a consultation. Either procedure can be performed with a closed or open approach. Following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do based on limited 2 dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon with extensive nasal surgery experience who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (CSAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla,California

Answer: Rhinoplasty candidate Rhinoplasty is the most difficult procedure to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery and you are asking for advice without any photos. In addition, the nose is a three-dimensional structure and it is very important that it looks proportional in all 3 dimensions. It's very important to make sure the tip cartilages, the mid bridge upper lateral cartilages, and the nasal bones all balance with themselves, and the new nose balances with the patient's facial features. For many examples of closed rhinoplasty including tension tip and dorsal hump, please see the link and the video below

Answer: Keeping your hump It is difficult to really understand what you are asking for without a picture of you but if a patient wants to work only on the tip and not on the bony portion that is very feasible. We call this a Tip-plasty. Often when you bring your tip into the correct rotation and projection whatever hump you had will be minimized and your nose will seem straighter. Hence why I always figure out where I want the final tip location to be before I reduce the hump otherwise you will get a very scooped look and many patients don't like that lookGood luck

Answer: Rhinoplasty goals Hi there, I do think you can modify and refine your nasal tip while preserving some of the dorsal hump. What I would recommend is that you meet with your surgeon and that discuss this in person. It is probably helpful for you to do photo simulations before surgery to better communicate what you are looking for.Good luck!
