How soon after Profound RF can you resume a regular skincare regimen? Specifically, tretinoin?

Thank you for your question.  I would recommend that you stop taking the tretinoin a week before the procedure and make sure your skin doesn't show any signs of irritation.  After the procedure, I would also recommend that you wait until your skin is completely healed and show no visible signs of inflammation (1-2 weeks).  I would get the 'all clear' by your physician before resuming tretinoin.

Profound is a fairly strong procedure. The RF microneedles penetrate at a depth that creates substantial response, so your skin will definitely be more sensitive to products. The time to resume a product like tretinoin, which will cause more rapid exfoliation, will depend on the pace at which your skin heals.Your doctor will give you an "all clear" time based on your unique healing response. Much is going on beneath the surface that you can't see as healing progresses.  It's better not to be in a hurry to resume active products, so take your doctor's advice. You may find that your regular routine needs to taken down a notch as your skin heals. 

You should be safe to resume tretinoin after about 2 weeks after Profound. This is a safe time to wait for swelling, bruising and any skin irritation to resolve. It is always best to wait till all redness is resolved before beginning tretinoin as it will likely exacerbate the redness. As always with tretinoin make sure you are not pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
