Surgery to narrow or thin your nose would be straightforward but can only be done by altering the framework which is bone and cartilage. There is minimal fat and the overlying soft tissues are delicate. To use the analogy of furniture, the framework occupies most of the volume... ie the nose is like a chair with minimal padding... not an overstuffed structure that can have padding removed.
Hello and thank you for your question. Your nasal tip consists mostly of cartilage so it would not be possible to remove fat only. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon. If you cannot find enough real before and after pictures, then consider continuing your search for a surgeon. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
If you want to reshape your nose then you will need a rhinoplasty.Rhinoplasty primarily manipulates bone and Cartlidge. That is the correct procedure and the correct approach. No one has to have cosmetic surgery.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
