Hello, thank you for your question. Fat can be harvested from anywhere in the body, fat Transfer around the eyes (periorbital area) can improve the appearance significantly and make you look significantly less tired. However, keep in mind, this the most challenging and tricky areas to get right. If too much fat is added and you end up looking over-filled, this can be very problematic and not easily corrected. I recommend you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with skills and experience
I dont like fat under the eyes often I like HA fillers however, nano fat can sometimes be done with reasonable results if the cheeks are also treated to give the eyes support. before pregnancy or after, fat grafting has no effect on the pregnancy. There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat will be the best long term. There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat will be the best long term. However, non invasive less downtime options such as fillers, lasers, microneedling/PRP, cosmelan peels and stem cells can all help give some improvement. I suggest. You get a formal consultation to see what is best for you and your goals. Best, Dr. Emer.
In my opinion based on 45 years of Facial Plastic Surgery fat transfer under eyes is NOT a good idea in any case. It is permanent! A better choice is Voluma which is reversible and lasts 2 years
I would suggest avoiding the fat transfer if you plant to get pregnant soon. Some women gain a fair amount of weight during pregnancy, and transferred fat can also enlarge. I have removed some excess facial fat because it grew with weight gain after pregnancy and became too full.
I do not recommend this procedure. You can have filler before becoming pregnant to address your concerns. This is performed under local anesthesia in the office setting.
I don’t recommend fat transfer in this area. The number of patients who have uneven contours, bumpiness and ask for revisions is substantial. It’s difficult to remove fat ones grafted especially in this area.I recommend using fillers instead.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
I was initially going to just respond that pregnancy should have no effect on fat grafting. However, after reading the previous responses, I feel I must give a completely different opinion. Fat grafting to the under eye area is an excellent option when done by an expert. The problem is that most physicians treat fat grafting like it was a filler. This is what causes all the problems that the others mentioned. When done properly, 75-80 % of the fat should take, there should be no irregularities, and the results should be excellent. Make sure whoever you see is a board certified plastic surgeon and has significant experience with fat grafting.
Over time surgeons have learned that there can be some big problems from fat placed under the eye. First, too much of it might survive and is extremely challenging to remove. Second, it can gain and lose weight just as if it were in the location where it came from. Third, there are rare cases of blindness caused by injecting fat or fillers in the tear troughs. Beware please, stuff can happen.
There are a number of different terms applied to facial fat grafting. The procedure entails harvesting living fat cells from one part of the body and transferring those living cells to another part of the body. There are a variety of ways to process or prepare the fat. which may help improve the...
