Should it cost more to have fat transfer and nanofat injections combined?

Question

I was booked to have fat transfer ( for face), but the doctor has since asked if I want nanofat injections as well for an extra cost ( nearly 50% increase in price) ..I know nano-fat is like regular fat transfer but more liquified etc ..and I wondered do doctors normally charge more to combine the two types of fat transfer methods in the same op? As I thought it would be not much extra cost with it still being the same fat and in the same fat transfer procedure ..

I charge one fee for all types of fat grafting anywhere, but that is me. its up to them what they charge I think yo uare getting ripped off. see an expert, but I would combine with PRP and then after Injections 4-8 weeks start sculptra.  Best, Dr. Emer.

During my training I asked one of the plastic surgeons how he determined what the price is to charge.He said “I look at the ring and I look at their shoes then I give them a price”“If they don’t flinch I add the operating room fee”“If they don’t flinch I add the anesthesia““If they don’t flinch I had a supply fee“When it comes to cosmetic surgery doctors can charge what they want however they want.There are no set standards.there you goPersonally I’m not a big advocate of facial fat transfer and believe sellers are far superior for many reasons despite needing maintenance. This is especially true when done around the eyes or in small detailed areas. No question there have been providers who have and continue to deliver stellar results. There are also a substantial number of patients who wish they didn’t have the procedure. Mats Hagstrom MD

Thanks for the question. I have learned something about what some practitioners do. Personally, this makes no sense to me. Why is the doctor offering you different prices fir the same procedure? If one method is better than the other, then that is the only one he/she should be doing. I essentially do micro (nano) fat transfer on everyone because it results in 75-80 % take and a smooth contour. Over the years I have continually modified my technique and the tools I use to obtain the best result I can achieve. If the physician who you saw hasn't done this and offers an inferior technique, I would seek care elsewhere.
