Can shivering from the cold ruin a breast augmentation?

Question

I'm 2 week's post op from having a breast augmentation. High profile, round, gummy bear implants, under the muscle inframammary incisions. Last night, I was standing outside for athe least an hour, literally shivering. Is it possible that all of that can do anything to harm or ruin a breast augmentation? Doc says to take it easy, no working out for 3 week's, and for how bad I was shivering, I probably could have been running or working out, and move less. Hahaha.

Thanks for the question. In my practice, after performing a BA I recommend to my patients to limit the movement of the arms for two weeks. After that, you can move your arms taking care and always with common sense. In this regard, it's not advisable to carry heavy weights to prevent the implant out of position, and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, also to avoid pain and breast swelling. Kind regards

Hello,Thank you for your question. You may feel more achy and sore after shivering for a long time but it should have no adverse effect on your breasts at all.   I typically recommend 3 weeks of avoiding cardio- type activity and another three of avoiding upper body workouts which would put targeted pressure on the healing implant pocket.

Good Morning and thank you for your question.  Although it's unlikely you've done any harm, be aware of how you're feeling over the next few days as you might have some muscle discomfort.  Be sure to dress in layers, protecting your chest and extremities and if you have any changes or concerns in any way, be sure to check in with your surgeon.
