When will this swelling go down on my nose?

Thicker skin certainly does lead to prolonged swelling and you should try and be patient until you are around one year post-op. Having said that, tick skin can also place limitations on the about of volume reduction that can be achieved and over-reduction of the cartilage can leave to looseness in the skin envelope which will not entirely resolve. Without seeing photos of you, or even examining you in person, it will be difficult for me to say which you have, but you should have this conversation with you surgeon at your next follow up appointment.

Dear GeorgiaAlthough most surgeons say 1 year, usually at 9 months, most of the swelling is gone and although you will continue to see minor changes over the next few months, chances are that soft mobile areas are not going to change radically, specially in primary rhinoplasty. In revision cases, it can take longer.You should return to your surgeon, discuss and seek personalized advice.

Postoperative swelling can often frustrate the surgeon just as much as the patient!  Any rhinoplasty surgeon will tell you that although the majority of swelling usually subsides in 4-6 weeks, that final appearance to the nose will take up to a year or more.  Relay your concerns with your plastic surgeon, as they may be able to help expedite the process using local techniques.  Best wishes!

Given the thickness of your skin, it is not unusual to still have swelling throughout the nose at 9 months postop. This should continue to come down with time. In the meantime, you should be following up with your rhinoplasty surgeon because there are some things that can be done(steroid injections) to the nose that can help some of the swelling come down.
