Could fullness of the supratip 8 years post rhinoplasty be scar tissue?

It is possible to have scar tissue even 8 years post op from rhinoplasty or intermittent edema can do that as well. An evaluation by the surgeon can determine if you are a good candidate for steroid injections, splinting or a revision surgery. RegardsDr J

Hello. in reviews and in my experience local cortisone injection is not helping out the soft tissue happening supra tip field after rhinoplasty. but if it is soft tissue. that deformity can be by lack of resection of cartilage while operation. so first it must be examined. but if soft tissue cortisones will not help if it is more than 6 months after operation. it can be considered reoperation .

Cortisone after several years for supratip scar.  I have followed rhinoplasty patients for 44 years and I have not seen this work. It may do things that make it worse. A revision is your best bet. 

Hello,It may be scar tissue, but no one on this forum knows for sure without examining you. Late injection of cortisone rarely works as desired and can frequently cause other problems, like thinning of skin and discoloration of skin. 

If you are having fluctuations in the appearance and fullness in the nasal tip even 8 years after your rhinoplasty then I feel that Cortisone or Kenalog injections into the area is absolutely worth a try.  Having performed rhinoplasty for over 25 years I am still humbled by the changes that can take place to the nose many years following surgery.

What? Yes, this actually has a name. Jack Sheen the father of modern rhinoplasty described this. It is due to the over-reduction of the skeletal frame of the nose leaving a soft tissue envelope without support. I'd have a consultation with an established rhinoplasty specialist to see if this is the case.
