I use to not be insecure about my looks. However, the older I get (18) this thing I like to call a "deep dive" continues to get more prominent every passing year. No one that I know of in my family has this. As I was doing research, I have read it could be an underdeveloped radix, a low radix, and once I read that it could be a "deformity". At this point I do not know what it is and I would like to know what it is. Can you also please write to me the possible options to fix this please?
Answer: Best Rhinoplasty Options for Treatment of a Deep Radix Hi Helpful,Great question. The radix is best appreciated on the lateral view. A deep or low radix is less of a deformity which needs correction and is more of a trait which needs to be recognized by rhinoplasty surgeons in order to plan an appropriate surgery to improve the aesthetics of the nose. In what are often called "ethnic noses" which you may have some features of, a low radix, or low bridge which can give the illusion of a short nose is commonly present. This is relatively straightforward to correct and often requires either a radix graft alone which is made of soft tissue or cartilage, or can be augmented along with the entire bridge by utilizing a dorsal graft made from cartilage. The most important aspect of any aesthetic procedure is to make sure that you choose your physician carefully. Choose your rhinoplasty surgeon based on their skill, knowledge, experience, care and most importantly their natural artistic vision. A few excellent rhinoplasty surgeons that I would recommend are Steven Pearlman, MD (NYC), Dean Toriumi, MD (Chicago), and Ari Hyman, MD (Encino, CA). I hope that this was "helpful", Helpful!!! Good luck and be well.Dr. PEncino, CA

Answer: Closed and Atraumatic Technique in Rhinoplasty Hello,Thank you for your question. Based on your photos you may benefit from the radix augmentation by the technique developed by me called as the Dorsal Roof Technique. The DR Technique allows treatment of the low radix while preserving the dorsum. Inserting a bone chip or cartilage graft between the dorsal bone-cartilage complex and ethmoid bone allows the radix to move up; with lowering of the hump, this technique works in a seesaw-like manner creating a nice forehead nose pass. Breathing issues can be adressed at the same time. An attractive and natural looking nose, that suits your face can be achieved by the help of the Closed and Atraumatic Approach, which minimizes swelling and bruises, maximizes healing, prevents tissue damage and eliminates a scar on the columella. Answer: Nose evaluation I don’t think you have any deformity. Yes your radix may be slightly deep, but it certainly within the normal range. You can consider filling it as part of liquid rhinoplasty.

Answer: Deep Naso-frontal Angle Hi, The photos demonstrate a deep naso-frontal angle. This may be augmented with either cartilage graft or silicone implants. It depends on the depth of the indentation. See link below for patient with the same issue.Best,Dr.S.
