I was diagnosed with a slightly underactive thyroid about 12 years ago, which I take medication for. Since being diagnosed, I have bloodwork and a physical checkup performed by my endocrinologist every 6 months. I have never had a goiter and my thyroid levels are and always have been excellent since my diagnosis. Is it ok to have Kybella performed?

Answer: Kybella with thyroid disorders Thank you for your question dellasimone. Kybella is the first and thus-far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment for the double chin. It is important to share your medical history with your doctor prior to any treatments. It is important for your doctor to know of any conditions such as thyroid conditions in the area prior to a treatment. If I had a patient with an underactive thyroid on medications without a history of surgery in the area and who is concerned with a double chin I would say she is a good candidate for Kybella treatment. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

Answer: Kybella treatment and hypothyroidism Thanks for sharing your question. It's ok for you to have Kybella treatment with a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. However, I would still let your injector know about your past medical history prior to treatment. Good luck!
