This is difficult to answer without pictures, but you might not be a good candidate for Kybella, based on your description. I find that VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF are best for contouring the chin in those who are candidates and can be combined with a neck lift at the same time, if needed. Kybella can be used as an alternative, but it needs to be combined with thermage/ultherapy/exilis or coolsculpting for good results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Typically if you are overweight however, this needs to be addressed first before cosmetic enhancements to get the best outcomes. Best, Dr. Emer
You may not have been an ideal candidate for Kybella. Kybella does not tighten skin and is not a weight loss substitute. It simply dissolves fat where it is injected. It's not uncommon for patients with heavy necks to require more than 2 sessions for optimal results. Massive weight loss patients and those with poor skin elasticity are much better surgical candidates. Without photos of your before and afters or a physical exam, it's difficult to make recommendations for you. I would visit with a board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon so that surgical options could be offered to you as well. Good luck!
Kybella helps remove the fat but it will not tighten the skin. It you need skin tightening then you would require a neck lift.
Thank you foryour question abryant1218. Kybella isthe first and thus-far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment forthe double chin. The double chin can be caused by weight gain, age, and genetics. In extreme cases many patients find improved results by starting with Cool Sculpting and then having Kybella. Additionally most patients require 2-4 treatments, sometimes up to 6 treatments. At that point final results should be assessed with photographs. Skin tightening can be performed with fractional CO2 laser resurfacing. Pleaseconsult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
Without photos it is impossible to say and it sounds as if you are not a good candidate for Kybella and that is the problem. You should look into cool-mini which might be more appropriate if you have a larger amount of fat and not seeing any results. Best, Dr. Green
My guess is that you are not an ideal candidate for Kybella. It will melt the fat, but if you have sagging skin then yes, it will make that condition worse. I would suggest that you schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss. My guess is that a surgical procedure would be better for you, but given your weight, that may not be a good option from a health stand point.
If Kybella really isn't doing much for you after two treatments, I would try a third. If that doesn't help I would consider a neck lift. It is unlikely that Ulthera and Thermage will give you the result you are looking for if Kybella hasn't done much in the way of results either.
Your question begs several more questions. How much Kybella was used? Has the fat layer diminished at all? Regardless of those answers there is no doubt that Kybella eliminates fat cells, but if you're 100 pounds overweight your fat cells are robust and substantial, meaning more sessions are required. Additionally, though, the obvious factor which will bring the most improvement is to lose those extra pounds.
Kybella is a great non-surgical option for certain patients with excess sub-mental fat. It dissolves fat where injected. However, heavy patients most likely will require more than average number of injections to achieve dissolution of all submental fat, and even then, the skin may continue to be lax. Some patients are better off with a neck lift and neck liposuction once their weight-loss goal has been achieved.
OK, think about things for a moment. If you have a large double chin chances are you have a large amount of submental fat. Correct? Belkyra as it is known in Australia is the same as Kybella. More fat, equals more injections means more downtime, more cost, increased side effects etc... Do I use...
Thank you for your question. There are more effective treatments to increase the volume of the lips, including Juvederm, other fillers and the more permanent treatment of fat injections. Always consult with board certified facial plastic surgeons that are experienced injectors. Best wishes,
In my opinion, there is no downside to picking up where you left off with your Kybella® injections after taking time off. The interruption in your treatments should have not have any negative effects. Whatever fat cells were destroyed during your previous treatment sessions will still be gone.
