After Kybella I looked better 10 weeks later, then puffy again at 12 weeks. Why? (Photo)

I am not aware of any of my patients having a rebound swelling for a couple of weeks at the three month point. This includes the patients who have three treatments every 5-6 weeks and the patients who only had one or two treatments. I can't explain why this swelling has occurred in you after each treatment. It appears that it is a very transient issue.

The side effect described is unusual. Did you consult your physician? It will be helpful to compare the pictures before and after the session of Kybella and also have your chin and neck area examined.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  Though your symptoms are not typical of most patients who receive Kybella temporary bouts of swelling after treatment can occur.  Given time for your results to mature this should resolve spontaneously. Hope this helps.

Hello anon20000,With Kybella treatment there is some initial swelling, then back to normal, and then improvement over the next 4-6 weeks.  It really should not "puff" back up again.  I'd recommend you follow up with your injector to make sure nothing else is going on.  I hope this helps and good luck. 

No question your chin looks tighter and more sculpted after 1 year of Kybella. Return of swelling is an unusual side effect and I have never heard of it. I think your results look fantastic. Swelling usually occurs immediately after the procedure and can last for a few weeks.

the first and thus-far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment for
the double chin. In the photographs provided the submental fullness appears better in the after photograph than the before photograph. It is difficult to make an assessment without other photographs in between. Please
follow up with your doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
