Still swollen 7 weeks after Kybella treatment. Is this normal? I hope this doesn't stay forever.

I had my first injection done 7 weeks ago and my chin looks worse then it did before I had the treatment done. There's this jiggly fat there now. I couldn't get the 2nd treatment done a month after the first because of the swelling.

Swelling from Kybella tends to be mild and dissipates soon allowing patients to resume their normal activities almost immediately. I suggest that you discuss your recovery process and post op care instructions with your board certified facial plastic surgeon. Please also refrain from having another injection until your swelling dissipates and you can begin to judge your results.

Every patient heals differently and yes, some take a few months for the swelling to fully subside. I would recommend that you speak with your injector as to the best time to schedule you next treatment. In general, the swelling isn't as bad with each subsequent treatment as there are less fat cells to target.

Many patients swell for a week or more after Kybella injections. It is part of the normal process and I would recommend waiting at least 6 weeks at this point for the next injection.  I often combine Thermage with Kybella for the best skin tightening results. Please consult an expert in Kybella for the best cosmetic results. the first and thus-far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment for
the double chin. Swelling typically lasts 1-2 weeks, but could last longer. For my patients I recommend treatments every 3 months. Please

Thank you for your question.  It's impossible to make an exact diagnosis without assessing you in-person, or reviewing photos.  That said, swelling is a common side effect after Kybella, and can be significant in some cases.  While swelling typically resolves within 1-2 weeks, it can last longer in some patients - I have seen a few patients who experienced swelling for up to 6-8 weeks after treatment.  I also don't usually recommend injecting Kybella every 4 weeks for precisely this reason - I often space my injections out by at least 10-12 weeks. Please follow-up with your injector if you have any concerns.  Best of luck!
