Fat transfer after 2 weeks. Will this be my final result?

Question

I had fat transfer to my face 2 weeks ago, 30 cc of fat was injected to both cheeks @ bottom & smile lines (nothing was injected @ top cheeks) I feel all swell has gone but my face still look horrible it's wide @ edges & chin became pointed with my top cheeks being thin & voided! Is this quantity considered too much for these 2 areas? how much loss in the injected fat quantity do I expect to occur?shall I consider my current look permanent? If no how long should I wait to have some fat absorbed?

At two weeks, it would be unusual for the result to be in its final form.All your questions are highly variable and dependent on your individual anatomy and healing propertiesAre things still changing at all? swelling going up and down daily? Still reducing a bit over time?What does your surgeon say?The good news is that some areas of over injection can be easily treated, however, you must wait till you see your final result.Best of luck

Hi - rest assured that at only 2 weeks out from fat transfer surgery this is not your final result. Of course close communication with your surgeon is vital in the first weeks/months after your surgery, but be sure to ask about other things that can be done to help alleviate swelling/bruising and contour abnormalities after fat transfer (such as massage, ice, etc). Make sure your surgeon knows that you are concerned about particular areas now, but also know that patience will pay off in the end.

I ALWAYS suggest allowing 4-8 weeks for total resolution of swelling after transfer of fat to face.  At only 2 weeks post-op, it is too premature to determine your final outcome.Also, without a photo, it is difficult to advise further.Wishing you the best of luck!Windell Davis Boutte, MD
