Multiple small bumps in the incision lines after blepharoplasty are common. These are small keratin containing inclusion cysts called milia and most will resolve over time with gentle massage. Occasionally, a persistent cyst may require unroofing with a needle, or more rarely, excision. Two weeks after surgery is much to early to be concerned about the permancy of the of the problem. Express your cocerns to your surgeon and follow their recommendations.
It is quite common for there to be bumps along the incision line after a blepharoplasty. This usually go away on their own within the first two months. If you are going to form a little cyst along the incision, this will usually be visible by two months. You wouldn't see a cyst early on. Keep your follow up appointments with your surgeon and let them know about your concerns.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Facial Rejuvenation SpecialistQuintessa
The skin of the eyelid is some of the thinnest skin in the body and consequently usually heals with an imperceptible scar. The little bumps that occur after surgery are common and usually resolve in 4-6 weeks as the body remodels the collagen in the scar tissue. Each surgeon has a protocol so check first but sometimes gentle massage and some type of silicon gel can help to expedite the resolution of the little bumps. Be well!
Thank you for the question and the photos. It is fairly common to have a little irritation in the area of the incision and the sutures after eyelid surgery. This will generally resolve in a few weeks. Another thing that can occur is milia -- these are tiny skin cysts that can be opened up with a sterile needle. Please check in with your surgeon regularly. Take care.
It’s not uncommon to have bumps along the incision line and usually these all resolve over time. It can take a few months but it’s very unlikely you’ll need more surgery. They shouldn’t get much worse but don’t despair it it takes time for them to improve. Good luck!
thank you for your question and photo. It is quite normal to have some small bumps like this after surgery. Typically they resolve on their own by about three months. I would recommend touching base with your surgeon so he or she can evaluate the situation. He or she may recommend some ointment. Best of luck!
Hello! Thank you for your question! It is quite common to experience swelling and bumpiness of the incision after upper blepharoplasty. It typically takes about 3 months for the swelling around the eyes and for the incision line swelling to resolve. As others mentioned, it is possible to develop small cysts or milia along the incision line. These are generally very easily treated in the office using a sterile needle. However, they typically present later in the course of healing around 2-3 months following the surgery. I recommend regular and close follow up with your surgeon to make sure he/she is aware of your concerns and following your healing progress. Take care!
Too soon to revise!! Give this at least 4 months to resolve. During that time continue to lubricate with your eye ointment. Gentle warm compresses will also help. Avoid massage as this can disrupt the delicate eyelid anatomy. You should notice weekly improvement. Keep your followup appointments with your surgeon so that he/ she can check your progress and remove any retained absorbable suture material. If suture tracks develop, they can be resolved quickly in the office. Best wishes.
When performed as a sterile procedure, eyelid surgeries have a very low rate of infection. Eyelid surgeries are also generally much less invasive than other surgeries. I have my patients on antibiotics during and after surgery to minimize this risk even further. If a patient is having general...
It will continue to get better. Gently push up the lower lid with your finger 30 times a day and do a lot of smiling to activate your orbicularis muscle. This will help it move along. RegardsDr. J
It seems that you're unhappy with your recovery. Hard to tell from your pictures about any nerve damage but it's early to say anything more than you have some swelling. To answer your question, usually you can have some small irregularities and healing issues. Though they are not very common, ...
