I’ve been to 3 different consultations for a BA and all 3 surgeons have told me different ways/procedures to correct this which has left me confused. I really want to see somebody who specialises in tubular breasts so I feel more comfortable with having the operation and getting the best end result possible! Any referrals will be a massive help. Thanks x

Answer: Tuberous breast correction Dear Jade, It can be very confusing as there really is more than one way to correct tuberous breasts, both because of different surgical preferences and variations in the tuberous breasts from patient to patient (and even between right and left sides). Methods used to correct them typically include breast implants, 'radial parenchymal scoring' (that means releasing the underside of the breast tissue to allow it to expand), areolar reduction, correction of areolar herniation (aka puffy nipples) and sometimes fat grafting. Unfortunately you are unlikely to find a surgeon who specialises only in tuberous breast correction as the condition, whilst common, is probably not common enough to form the basis of an entire practice! Instead check your surgeon's credentials, ask to see before and after photos, ask for an explanation of the surgeon's rationale for their treatment plan, and get more than one opinion if you are at all able. Best of luck!

Answer: Tubular breasts I understand how frustrating it can be to be suggested different methods of performing the surgery. Sometimes it is that differing methods can achieve similar results.I would suggest choosing a plastic surgeon that has plenty of experience dealing with tuberous breasts and who can show you multiple examples of patients that they have dealt with. They should have the FRCS(plast) qualification. A member of BAAPS would also be preferable. Best wishes.
