I'm having It on 9th Oct 2017, I've no idea what to expect so I've been reading people's experiences on RealSelf. Most say even after the numbing cream it's quite/very painful & painkillers would've/did help. I dont have a great pain tolerance level & I'm worried about the pain element of the actual CO2 laser, so I would def like to take whatever I can to help ease the discomfort but don't know what to take. Can you help please

You need to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. He or she is the only one who knows exactly what was done and is in the best position to advise you.

Some Specialist use eye shields externally some internally. If one was using a non ablative laser, such as an Nd Yag, or a Q Switch and its this close to your eyes, yes, internal shields are needed. Given the depth and location, external shields or caution in this wavelength. No further comment....
