Will Uneven FUE Growth 8 Months Post-op Improve?

Question

I had FUE at my hairline and temples in May 2015 (approximately 8 months ago now). I have seen modest growth but one side still has small bald spots and is thinner overall than the other. Is it common to see one side grow-in faster than the other, and is there still hope for more growth/density to occur after 8 months, and for the sides to even out? Thanks.

If your hair transplant surgery results were uneven, see your doctor for a recheck.  It can take up to 12 months to see final results.

It is typical for hair to grow at slightly different rates
following a transplant procedure. It may take up to a year to see full growth,
so it would be best to allow more time to assess the results following your
procedure.  It would be best to return to
your surgeon for an evaluation at that time.

Asymmetric regrowth is the rule, not the exception. So don't worry too much at this point. If one side doesn't grow in as well as the other side, not to worry as you can always do another smaller session to balance it out. It's a bit of a pain, inconvenience, and some extra money but do-able and a reality of surgery you should have been made aware of prior to having your procedure. Grow well.  Dr. Feller

Wait out another 2 months and if it does not even up, go back to your doctor for a reassessment of your situation. Hairs do grow at different rates, some will start growing at 4 months, some at 5 and some at 6 or 7 months. They usually thicken up as they get longer.

you need to wait until all the transplanted hair to grow in to see the final result. It may take up to 18 months for all the hair to grow in.

Any honest hair transplant surgeon with more than a year or two of experience will tell you that growth is sometimes uneven from one side to the other. This can be the result of many things, from uneven placement of the recipient incisions, to variations in technique during graft harvesting/preparation/insertion, to scratching the scalp during the first few days after surgery. More often than not, the real cause for uneven growth is not known with certainty. And this is true whether the grafts were obtained via a linear strip ("FUT") or via FUE. That said, things do have a way of evening out over time, and it will be a few more months before you can say that what you see is what you get. Any asymmetry that exists after a year can usually be addressed with a second procedure.
