I've always had moderate to slow loss but mainly diffuse for many years and still have a lot of coverage. I understand that shock loss is normal and I expected to see this especially in the crown where I had only thinning. In this area trauma to the native hair was likely, but I didn't expect to comb out 50 hairs everyday after only 7 days since the procedure. This is worrying me since after a shower I would normally only comb out 2 or 3 hairs, that's how stable my hair loss was. Is this common?

Answer: Shock loss after hair transplant there is a risk of shock loss if you have existing hair and doctor is not careful when making incisions int the recipient area. The hair restoration specialist should do their best to minimize it but if you are losing a lot of hair, then you need to do a follow up with your doctor.

Answer: Hair loss after a hair transplant Shedding after a hair transplant while on the drug propecia is unusual. I doubt it is coming from the drug, but rather an acceleration of your normal hair loss process. If the shedding is in the transplanted area, the new grafts, when they grow, will off set it. If the shedding is from all over the front and top of the head it sounds like shock loss which usually accelerates the hair loss that you might have seen two years after a hair transplant had you not been on the drug. If you are developing a more advanced balding pattern with acceleration of your hair loss, which a Bulk Measurements with the HAIRCHECK instrument can provide, it will show over a one year time frame, what exactly is your hair loss (in numbers) and then you and your doctor need to develop a MASTER PLAN for what may happen to you.
