So I've been doing some research as I plan on having this surgery done. My earlobes aren't torn, but I would just like them reduced in size. I've seen there's two treatments 1. Cutting s triangle out and 2. Marking and removing ear lobe across the war with a laser or radio frequency. What's the best or is each for a particular scenario?

Answer: Earlobe reduction surgery: edge or wedge? I generally favor an edge technique in patients who have detached earlobes (i.e. the earlobes hang down well below their junction with the cheeks). During earlobe reduction, I will mark each earlobe for the desired new shape and size. After injection with local anesthesia, I will simply cut on the "dotted line," reducing the earlobe size and improving its shape. A small amount of fat is removed to facilitate closure. The scar is located on the edge (rather than the more visible aspect) of the earlobe. In patients with attached earlobes, a wedge technique is preferred (since there is no hanging edge to remove). This generally entails a smaller amount of skin excision. It is a reliable procedure but does leave a vertical scar on the ear or at the junction between the ear and the cheek. Procedure cost is generally $1050 for 1 earlobe and $1950 for both earlobes regardless of the surgical technique.
