Three and a half months after abs/flanks lipo and no results. Increase in circumference. Is this normal?

I had abs and flanks lipo on 19 Nov 2016. Three and a half months after lipo, there are no results. My circumference before lipo was 36 inches (based on my trousers size). After lipo it is 39. i have had zero complications/pain/bruising. I do understand that there will be some swelling but I can not tell if I am swollen. I am taking Bromelain for swelling. The fat that was removed from my abs was injected back to my arms to make them look bigger. Is the increase circumference normal? thanks.

With an increase in size, you should consider the possibility of fluid collection as well as swelling.

At this point, you most likely have some swelling which can last 3-6 months. Due to your description, I recommend following up with your Doctor for a formal evaluation. I suggest adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. The increase of the circumference may be due to swelling or fluid collection in your abdominal region. Usually it takes 6 months for the swelling to fully subside, but at this time it should have already decreased. It is advisable to follow up with our surgeon to eliminate the possibility of a fluid collection or infection.

Sorry to hear that you have concerns about the results of your procedure.  While swelling a few months after surgery is normal, the increase in your waist size is notable, and it raises the question whether there is some other explanation.  One possibility is that after liposuction you developed a fluid collection or seroma, and sometimes after a few months, these collections develop a wall or a bursa.  The first step is simply to discuss your concerns with your surgeon, and if there is any concern of a fluid pocket, they may want to consider an ultrasound.  Best of luck.
