I am scheduled for traditional lipo for my inner and outer thighs in a little less than three weeks. I recently gained a few pounds over the holidays and am currently 8 to 10 pounds over my ideal weight. I am 5'3" and 128 pounds - my normal weight is closer to 122. My goal weight is between 117-120. Will the extra few pounds make a difference in my results? I plan to get the extra weight off after the surgery if I can't lose it all beforehand.
Answer: Weight loss and Liposuction In general, it's always a good idea to be at one's ideal body weight or at least have a stable weight before liposuction. For weight loss "resistant" areas like the inner/outer thighs and knees a small amount of weight loss before or after liposuction will not usually affect the final liposuction results.

Answer: Ideal weight for liposuction Hello and a commonly asked question. As mentioned, the closer you are to 'maintenance weight', not necessarily ideal weight, the better. It is easier as a plastic surgeon to make the area of localized fat deposits proportional to the surrounding areas and the rest of your body. That having been said, several pounds will not make much difference. You are height and weight proportionate and all should be fine. Continuing a diet and exercise plan is key - you want to be at your personal best. Cheers, Brad Remington, MD
