Labiaplasty 5 weeks Post Op - white discharge and unusual odour (Photos)

Super gross, apologies! 5 weeks post op from trim method Labiaplasty which went really well, my recovery has been great until a week or so ago I noticed I was getting thick white discharge coming from my vagina as well as an odour. I've tried to photograph as well as I can. I have a check up in a weeks time anyway, but I'm unsure what this could be as I've been keeping the area clean etc! All my stitches haven't dissolved as you can see in the photos. Any advice would be great!

Patients may have a number of concerns post labiaplasty. Many of which stem from limited access/visibility of the operative site. However, two of the more concerning issues which are reasonably easy to assess are discharge and odor. Both of these can be concerning for and suggestive of post-operative infection and should be evaluated by your operating surgeon.Based upon your description alone, you may have developed vaginal candidiasis or what is more commonly referred to as a yeast infection. This can be triggered by post operative antibiotics which can interfere with the normal vaginal flora. This can be easily treated with an oral antifungal such as Diflucan. However, it is important that you be evaluated as untreated or ongoing infection can inhibit healing and compromise a surgical result.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon.

A white vaginal discharge after cosmetic labiaplasty usually is a yeast infection. This can easily be treated with diflucan. Call your labiaplasty surgeon for an evaluation and treatment. It is important to treat a post op labiaplasty yeast infection because it can cause the sutures to fall apart.
