Gaining weight in Lipo'd areas 4 months after lipo.

Question

I had lipo my tummy area. Was quite pleased with my results overall. about 4 weeks after i had lipo, one of my parents passed away suddenly;I have been eating bad, not exercising. Things are getting back to normal but I am afraid that I have undone the results of my lipo. My overall weight is same. 1) can bad eating cause me to gain weight in the lipo'd areas so quick. 2) Is it normal to have bloating, i find that my underwear or tight pants usually impact the shape of my belly, i.e. make ridge.

Thank you for your question. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately, even with liposuction, eating unhealthy can make you can weight anywhere in the body. The best thing to do is maintain a healthy diet and exercise to maintain your results. Best of luck!

You may still have some swelling, which will resolve 3-6 months after your procedure. If you gain weight after liposuction, usually you'll gain in untreated areas first. You mentioned your weight is the same, however I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease any residual swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Weight and body mass are important to be maintain after liposuction.
That is why I prefer to select patients that are stable on both measurements.
The good news is that if you return to your preop constitution your results may
also return. Bloating however is a different consideration and should be addressed

If you eat excessively, you can gain weight all over your body and the lipo areas are no exception..

Hello and thanks so much for your question.  Liposuction does provide you with permanent results but lifestyle will definitely affect your outcome. Liposuction is a method used to "sculpt" the body rather than "weight loss". If you lack good diet and exercise, you will eventually go back to the way you were previous to surgery. We all fall off the "food wagon" once in a while so don't beat yourself up over it. Get back on track and you will begin seeing the results that you anticipated and loved right after surgery.  Good Luck!!!
