also had pixie ear correction (different surgeon). The right side of my face was more swollen from the day of surgery and is higher than the left side. I also have what my surgeon thinks is a hematoma on that side which she will clean out on my next visit, I also have a swoosh line on both sides of my face from mouth to upper cheek. She said that these will go but I wonder has she pulled too tight as I didn't have much loose skin but she needed to do the lift to get the ear correction done.

Answer: 3 weeks post op swelling Hi Nerja1: I don't know if you tried to post a pic, but for whatever reason, there is no photo. From your description, it sounds like the swelling is what your surgeon suspects, a hematoma. This can happen after facelift surgery, in fact it's the most common complication postop. The management is very straightforward and it sounds like your surgeon is doing all the right things. Correcting a pixie ear from previous facelift is definitely not a simple task. It does require undermining the surrounding skin in order to release all the scar tissue pulling on the ear. I wish you the best. Dr A

Answer: Postop If you have a haematoma you need this addressed asap. At three weeks this is unusual and also difficult to remove in the office. If it is swelling then this will take time to settle and often it can take 6 months. The sweep you suggest usually settles as long as the skin has been undermined appropriately.
