Question

Vaser lipo on knees calves and ankles. I'm 1 healing very quickly. pleased with contour of my legs and they feel slimmer. But my ankles are area which bothered me most and there's still that pad of fat at the outer ankle. I don't seem to have much swelling now just yellowy grey bruising. He did say 6 months for full results but I will be so disappointed if my ankles don't lose that bulk on the outer side and I will be in the same position of not showing my legs. Any advice greatly appreciated

Liposuction of the calves and ankles takes MONTHS to heal.  And the bone structure of your body cannot change. I suggest if you are unhappy with your results please speak to your physician and ensure he was a full body VASER HD liposuction physciain wtih expensive experience in body shaping and not just traditional fat reduction.  At this point you should be using compression, RF treatments like venus legacy / exilis ultra / inmode forma or contoura and lymphatic massage to get you through healing.   We always add shock wave therapy such as cellutone, z wave, and eclipse evive to help prvent scar tissue formation and ensure an even and smooth result. It will take 6-12 months to see the final outcome.   If you are unhappy you can get a revision procedure by an expert in VASER HD lipo.  Best, Dr. Emer.

most patients see something that resembles final results by about six weeks.  Final results take about three months except for calves and ankles which can have swelling for three times longer.  In this case  you should wait a minimum of three months but six months is probably more reasonable before making any judgements.Calves and ankles are the most technically difficult part of the body to get consistant high quality results.  Swelling is usually worst at the end of the day.  You can probably get a better sneak preview of final results by assessing the results first thing before you get out of bed in the morning.  If your results worsen over the course of the day esp if you are on your feet all day then you know you are still dealing with swelling and your results will take longer before they are final.Worst case you need a touch up that can most likely be done in the office.  A revision rate for calves and ankle liposuction is probably around 10%. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD

it is not reasonable to expect big changes after just 10 days, especially in the lower leg and calf area. this area tends to hold on to swelling much longer, due to gravity. i am a huge fan of Smartlipo for this area. Be patient. at night, try and elevate your feet on 2-3 pillows to help with swelling too.david berman md
