Recurring skin infection on nose supra tip 1 year after Rhinoplasty?

I am very unhappy with my results one year post op. I have a huge dent in the middle of my nose where the bone was shaved and on the tip I keep getting a recurring skin infection which almost looks like bad sunburn. When I run my finger down my nose I can feel loads of lumps and bumps which I assume is uneven cartilage? How can I fix this - is revision surgery my only option?

Hi,
It seems possible that you have a chronic infection involving either avascular cartilage graft, permanent suture or other foreign body. You will need to find a surgeon experienced at revision surgery to discuss your situation. If there is an infection, the main thing is to get your nose healed and infection free, and how good it ends up looking must be an important but secondary concern.

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to make an accurate assessment and recommendations based on photographs alone. I recommend you seek repeat evaluation with your surgeon or new evaluation by a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon. Sometimes non-surgical methods such as steroid injections and needle shaves can be done in the office to improve the area of concern. Especially when there is an issue of recurrent infection, sometimes revision surgery may be the best treatment option.
