How long does it take for swelling to go completely down after getting mildly hit on the side of my nose?

Today, I got hit on the side of my nose by a rubber duck that my little sister threw at me. It only hurt for a minute or two, & then I got a bump on the side of my nose. I didn't get hit hard, & I'm pretty sure my nose didn't break from a rubber duck. My nose didn't bleed or anything, but I feel mildly sore (which went away later that day). So will the bump go away, & will the swelling go down? If so, then how long would it take? & how should I treat it? Thank you in advanced!!

The healing time after blunt trauma to the nose is variable to each individual. What,s more important is the degree of the blunt trauma. You were hit by a rubber duck. Swelling should be all gone by two weeks max. Some people take up two 6 weeks to resolve.

Thank you for your question. We recommend you ice the affected area for the first 48 hours as well as avoid blood thinning medications such as ibuprofen to minimize any bruising and swelling. The area should improve in a matter of days to a week or two. If you have a persistent bump for several weeks or new nasal breathing problems, we recommend you seek a consultation with a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who can perform a thorough examination and then discuss with you any treatment options.
