I am 5 weeks post op and while I am pleased overall with my TT results and was pre warned by my ps that there could be some asymmetry, however I'm not happy about just how asymmetric my scar is around the middle of my tummy. Am I being too picky about this and is there any options to get this fixed ?
Answer: Scar line asymmetry after tummy tuck Thanks for your question and photo. I am sorry that you are having concerns after your tummy tuck. From what I can see, you definitely have some asymmetry. It is unlikely that this will improve with time. I would recommend that you wait 6-12 months to let the swelling resolve and let the tissues relax. A revisionary surgery can be performed to help improve the scar location. I always caution my patients, that true symmetry is not the norm and is almost impossible to provide with surgery. However, I think your situation could be improved, but it is best to wait right now. Good luck.

Answer: Asymetry I think you will probably need a revision. might need to wait 6 months to a year for things to loosen up. I am sure your doctor will be able to make things right. my guess is that he is not thrilled either

Answer: Advice re asymmetrt post tummy tuck Hi and thank you for your photographs. I am sorry you have understandable concerns about your scar asymmetry 5 weeks after your operation. As you are in the early phase of healing you will inevitably have further maturation and relaxation of your skin and scar. Its likely that as your tissues mature then it will be more feasible that further revision surgery will be successful in improving the degree of asymmetry that affects your tummy tuck scar.it would be important to attend review consultation with your plastic surgeon to discuss you're outcome

Answer: 5 weeks post op, I have an asymmetric Tummy Tuck scar. Any suggestions? No, I do not think that you are being too picky. The asymmetry of your abdominoplasty scar line would be of concern to most patients and plastic surgeons. Although it is too early to discuss revisionary surgery, at some point, it is likely that you will be a good candidate. It will be important to wait until there is enough laxity above and below the scar line to allow for the procedure to be performed safely. Make sure that you like the quality of your plastic surgeon's work; otherwise, with all due respect to your plastic surgeon, it may be in your best interest to seek second opinion consultations. Best wishes.

Answer: Tummy Tuck and Appearance of Scars It is not uncommon to have revisions after a tummy tuck surgery, although in most cases they only involve minor tweaks to improve the appearance of scars (i.e., performed in a doctor's office and under local anesthesia). Don't worry, you will see improvements as your skin and tissue become more relaxed and your body recovers from the surgical trauma, a process that could take up to six months. After six to eight months and you're still not happy with the appearance of your scar, you may ask your PS for a scar revision surgery, which is just a minor procedure. Good luck and best wishes.
