Torn stitches after constipation, if I did what can I do?

I am going to assume that you have a tummy tuck. If that is the case and you feel pain in your abdomen after a bowel movement then you need to revisit with your plastic surgeon as soon as possible for re-examination

Anything is possible but it would be highly likely that straining on the toilet would cause disruption of any of the significant sutures involved with and abdominoplasty. Nevertheless check in with your own surgeon.

It is possible that some of the plication sutures were ruptured.  It is very difficult to tell at this point.  Your surgeon should see you immediately.  It may be some time, until the swelling resolves, until your surgeon can tell what happened. 

Thanks for writing,It sound as thought you may hard torn a muscle suture, but as Dr. Morgan has said, it may be swelling. Please let your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon know about this. Assuming you had a tummy tuck and assuming you tore your abdominal muscle stitches there is not much you can do at this point. Continue to wear an abdominal binder and see your surgeon.  Avoid constipation by limiting the use of narcotic pain medications and adjust your diet to include fiber and plenty of water.

Continue wearing your compression garment.  Take something to help with the constipation, and see your surgeon as soon as possible.  Best wishes!
