I had under muscle augmentation, flat to 350ccs I believe. Is it normal for me to still be needing pain medication and muscle relaxers at this point? I am still quite sore and have spasms and twitching. I also am unable to lift or do much of anything to physical without pain. I expected to be back to pretty much recovered by this point; am I just being impatient?
Answer: Breast Augmentation Post-op Pain I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you’ve been going through. Unfortunately, it isn’t common to be experiencing this sort of pain this far out of your procedure. Having the occasional small area of soreness can occur in the first few months. But with this concern, I would recommend that you speak to your plastic surgeon for an in-person evaluation.

Answer: Pain at 3 months Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, it is not normal to still be on pain medication and muscle relaxers at 3 months post op. Typically patients are only taking medication for the pain for a week, maybe 2 at the most. Everyone's pain tolerance is different though. But at three months, you may still be feeling a little discomfort from time to time, but shouldn't be constant. I would recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible with your doctor, if you don't already have one set up. This is something you should discuss with them, and probably in person to figure out what is going on. I wish you the best of luck in resolving your issue. Answer: Is it normal to have pain and soreness, 3 months post-op BA? I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you have been experiencing. No. It's not common to require pain medicine this far out from surgery. Having the occasional small area of soreness can occur in the first several months, but it should not significantly limit your activities or cause you to need pain medicine. I would contact your surgeon for an in person evaluation.

Answer: Normal to have pain 3 months after breast augmentation? The simple answer is...NO!If you are having pain that requires you to use narcotics and muscle relaxants this far out, then you really need to see your Plastic Surgeon to make sure that everything is okay. Capsular contracture usually takes a while to set in but it certainly could be causing your issues. An in-person consult is really what you need.I hope that helps and wish you the very best!-Gregory A Buford MD FACSBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
