What could be causing swelling, pain and redness 2 years after rhinoplasty?

What could this be from? My nose healed without a hitch. It was the best decision I ever made. My doctor is one of the best, he is located in Newport Beach, CA. I did not injure or bump it anywhere. Today is the second consecutive day of these symptoms. It doesn't look too obviously swollen with the eye, but if you press on the affected side you can feel some sort of swelling/fluid retention on that side compared to the other side which is just skin and bone (the way it usually is).

In your narrative, I do not see the location of your nose where you are seeing redness and swelling. If it is in the nasal tip area, it could be from a permanent suture if that was employed by your surgeon two years ago. Or it could just be an epidermal inclusion cyst. I believe a photograph would help shed light on the situation. Or, consider sending photos to your surgeon or visiting your surgeon. I hope this is helpful. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Hello. It's hard to say without photos, but it could be an infection. It may simply be confined to the skin. If there's an issue like this, it's always worth checking with your surgeon. An antibiotic may be all that is needed. Hope this helps.

If you’re having acute onset of pain in your nose, then it’s probably not related to having had surgery two years ago.
Acute onset of tenderness with redness and swelling is highly indicative of a bacterial infection.
I suggest seeking medical care.
